Today marks your first steps on the trail! After a short drive to the trailhead, you'll embark on a 7 km trek (approx. 6 hours). The path begins with a serene ascent through a thick, silent forest, offering a mesmerizing jungle walk where the only sounds are bird calls and filtered sunlight. You’ll cross clean river streams and pass small settlements of mountain shepherds before emerging into the vast, stunning Bhaj Marg meadow. This is where the pristine beauty of Nafran Valley truly begins—your campsite is a breathtaking, secluded patch of grass surrounded by mountains.
Get ready for the destination this trek is named for! Today is a challenging but rewarding 9 km trek (approx. 7 hours). You’ll ascend the ridge of Arram Pathri, which offers incredible panoramic views of the entire region. The trail involves navigating a few rocky patches and carefully crossing river streams. The final descent leads you into the spectacular Nafran Valley (3,450m) itself—a gorgeous, mountain-surrounded gem where you’ll pitch your tents for the night. The sheer beauty of this location will be etched into your memory.
A shorter day of trekking, but one that builds anticipation for the summit. After exploring the immediate beauty of Nafran Valley in the morning, you'll begin a steady 5 km ascent (approx. 5 hours). The trail offers increasingly expansive views of rolling grasslands and crisscrossing river streams. Your campsite for the night is in the breathtaking Harnag Valley (3,500m), strategically located just below the legendary Harnag Pass, giving you a chance to soak in the magnificent scenery before the big climb.
This is the most physically demanding, yet most rewarding day—the true summit push! The 6 km loop (approx. 7 hours) starts with a careful ascent over rocky, boulder-filled terrain to reach the top of Harnag Pass. Your effort is instantly rewarded with one of the best panoramic views of the entire trek! On one side, the endless Nafran Valley; on the other, the secluded Harnag Lake. A challenging descent brings you to the shore of this pristine alpine lake. Later, you'll trace a short trail to a viewpoint offering a commanding sight of the massive, snow-white Kolahoi Peak and Glacier before heading back to the Harnag Valley campsite.
Time to relax and enjoy the scenery you missed on the way up! Today is a gentle, pleasant 7 km descent (approx. 6 hours) as you retrace your steps back to the picturesque Arram Pathri area. The mild grade gives your legs a much-needed break and allows you ample time to pause, take photographs, and simply savor the peace of the stunning meadows.
The final stretch of your trek covers 10 km (approx. 6 hours). Today is a gentle downhill walk through varied and beautiful landscapes, a completely different route from your ascent days. You'll pass through the charming valleys of Kanzal Pathri and Gagad Pathri, enjoying one last peaceful river crossing before reaching the beautiful hamlet of Aru, completing your circuit trek. From Aru, a 110 km drive takes you back to Srinagar, filled with memories of Kashmir's most pristine valley.
